46th COPOLCO plenary and workshops

Capacity building and training session Day

Join us for a half day programme of informative and interactive trainings, which will explain the role of standards in protecting consumers and the critical importance of consumer stakeholder participation in delivering standards that benefit society.

The trainings will focus on the value of effective collaboration between NSBs and consumer stakeholders, sharing global best practice and practical tips for successful engagement.

The trainings are based on the BSI consumer engagement training programme. BSI delivers these trainings to consumer stakeholders, including Consumer and Public Interest Network, Consumer protection organizations and BSI Employees

BSI are proud to sponsor these trainings as hosts of the COPOLCO 2025 plenary.

These training materials have been adapted for COPOLCO in collaboration with WG23 Capacity Building and Training WG

All NSBs and their consumer stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Options are available to join in-person or virtually. Register for the Capacity Building and Training sessions.

During the afternoon of May 20 COPOLCO will also hold a closed plenary workshop open for members. Register for the COPOLCO Plenary Workshop in ISO Meetings.

Objectives

The aims of the session programme are:

  • To raise awareness of the value of consumer stakeholder participation – at national, regional and international level.
  • To share practical tips on effective engagement between NSBs and consumer stakeholders - highlighting best practice from COPOLCO members around the world– to help national standards bodies deliver robust multi-stakeholder standards that empower and protect consumers.
  • To strengthen the consumer voice in standards globally to increase positive impact of standards on society and improve outcomes for consumers.

Audience

The session programme is intended to benefit all COPOLCO members, including NSBs and the consumer stakeholder organizations that contribute to national standards, in all countries.

There will be specific sessions targeted at NSBs and consumer organizations. It is hoped that the training event will enable some NSBs to access sponsorship to attend the whole COPOLCO event.

The session programme will be promoted to all COPOLCO members in advance of COPOLCO week.
